Buyers: Do you prefer Fixed Price or Auction Listings?

A wee bit of a poll. If a fixed price listing is a fair and reasonable price, do you prefer that or, so you can have fun with the bidding process, do you prefer Auction style listings? I'll check back later for results. Thanks.|||Wow, a similar question was just posted to sellers on the sellers board. I don't think there's any one answer for all buying or selling situations. So my answer is... depends.~James~||||||I posted a similar question on the sellers forum yesterday, James. The only responses were from sellers, about selling strategy, i.e., if value unknown, list auction style - if value known, list fixed price, which I already know, and didn't answer my question. Thought I'd try asking it on the buyers forum.|||Auctions.'You call some place paradise - kiss it goodbye' - Eagles, The Last Resort|||However the seller wants to list, if I want the item I'll do either one.||||||Most of what I buy here is fairly common stuff. I prefer fixed price. I want to be able to purchase immediately, assuming the price is what I consider to be reasonable (which doesn't often happen). If an item I'm interested in is truly rare, then I don't mind an auction.friends Director,|||BIN! For auctions I proxy bid and I do not win all that often. I can't be bothered tying myself to the computer waiting for an auction to end.|||No problem, James, and thanks for the interesting responses, everyone, so far. I just thought of another question. Do buyers like Fixed Price w/Best Offer option, or would they rather Fixed Price, only, without the Best Offer option? I know nothing's cast in stone. I'm just trying to get a feel, if possible, for what the majority of buyer's prefer. I've had a store with my selling ID for only a couple of months. I'm listing more Fixed Price than I did before I had a store, and wondering how buyers feel about the various ways of listing an item. Thanks.|||That book I sought-after for 20 years, I was glad it was an auction, I got it for a pittance! (I did offer him 3x the amount BIN, but he wanted to keep it an auction, like we advise sellers to do! )~James~|||Well, as you know, buyer did the right thing in not accepting your offer, James. I've had a few BIN offers on an auction listing, and except for one time, it ended with a higher amount. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.|||On this ID I don't really have a preference. I'll use BIN if the price is reasonable & auction if the BIN is not offered. On my main buying ID, 99.99% is auction. I'll only use BIN if that is the only option, but, it has to be a very good price.||||||
